You are a Blessing!

ColourQ has long been one of my favourite challange blogs and so when I needed a card for my Grandmother this week, I knew exactley where to look for some colourful inspiration! Some Chatterbox paper that I have had in my stash for years worked perfectly with this weeks challenge.


Another site that I went to for some inspiration is the brand new, and utterly adorable new blog: Do You Stack Up?  This is only thier 2nd challenge, but how could I not play along when the challenge is "No Stress, Distress!" Of course I had to laugh a little, its more of a challenge for me "not" to distress a card, but I had fun playing along anyways!

I also used the very last 2S4Y sketch for this card.

Pinwheels - Whee!

Another birthday card, this time its my turn to use Sarah as my inspiration. I was so taken with her pinwheel card that I had to try one myself. Only, I ended up with three pinwheels instead of one, I couldn't settle on just one paper to use! So happy for fun double sided paper, it makes the pinwheels look fantastic.

I was also able to use something that I have had for quite some time. A very good friend of mine gave me a box of thin wood veneer a few years ago. I tore it in this strips, it works great, you just tear along the grain and it peels nicely. I've used bits and pieces on various crafting projects, but I still have lots left! I had completely forgotten about it until I needed some 'stems' for the pinwheels. It worked perfectly!  I love rediscovering old supplies that are the perfect finishing touches.

I made this card for Kazan's latest sketch over at 2S4Y. At first I wasn't going to, because I didn't think my mojo was flowing well enough to attempt it. Its a very unique sketch. But I am quite pleased with the results. It turned out very different  from most of my cards. I tend  towards the more natural colour tones, but it was fun to experiment a little bit too. Once again the ladies from 2S4Y are offering a design position for the winning card, go check it out!

The sentiment for the card was just printed off and adhered to blue cardstock. Other than that there isn't much to say except, have a great day! I may get around to posting some more this afternoon. I have another card I want to show you.

2 Sketches 4 You #56 & Mojo Monday #147

I am noticing a trend when it comes to my scrapbook layouts and cards: I do really well with girly, not so well with masculine. I kind of feel lost if I can't put ruffles or flowers on my projects so I am never very happy with how my "boy" things turn out. So I decided that if I was going to participate in some card challenges I should really make it a challenge for myself and make some cards for the boys... that and a couple of my brothers have birthdays coming up.

The first card is based on Laura's sketch#56 over at 2Sketches4You.

New Challenges

I thought I would try some new challenges today, instead of the ones that I always do, just to mix things up a bit! I did a google search, and snooped around on some of the other cardmaking sites and found these great challenges that I couldn't wait to try.

The first is Stacey's Stamping Stage, wow! What a load of inspiration there is on her gorgeous blog. The wasn't a sketch to work off of, but a colour challenge. I've never tried a colour challenge before, but I thought I would give it a go. I would have loved to incorporate the pink and purple into my card as well, but I found that upon rummaging through my draws and boxes, I don't have any! I tend to stick more to masculine colours it seems. While it didn't work as well for the challenge, its a perfect excuse to buy more crafting supplies! After all, what craft room is complete without a healthy dose of pink?

As well as Stacy's colour challenge, I used the sketch from Makeesha. I had never heard of this fantastic scrapper until today, but I think I might be following her a little more closely from now on. Beautiful site with lots of amazing cards! Again, really loosley based on the sketch, but a perfect start for inspiration.

I am so happy with the way this card turned out! As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I had to use our new stamp from Tiffany's Doodles, the sweet dress digi stamp, isn't is adorable? Sarah won the stamp for finishing first in the Caardvarks May Challenge with this card. We haven't had a chance to use any of the stamps yet, I'm so glad I was able to today! It was such a quick and easy card, it came together so nicely! I love it when that happens.

The second card that I made today is super simple. but it seems most masculine cards end up being that way. This card was created for the newest 2S4Y sketch, I couldn't resist going back to this favourite site. The prize for this week is joining the fabulous DT team for a 3 month term, wouldn't that be fun?! To bad I don't stand a chance against the fantastic ladies who play along there.

I picked up an old music book at the thrift store the other day full of 12 x 10 sheets of classical music. As much as it seems a shame to rip apart a vintage songbook like this, it makes beautiful (and inexpensive!) scrapbooking paper! Just what I needed for the background of this card. I so love that store, I find so many vintage goodies not only for my paper crafts, but also shoes, and clothes, and books and just about everything! I admit that I am probably more addicted than even Sarah, which is not easily done!

2 Sketches 4 You 7.5.2010

Technically speaking, this is Sarah's blog. But since I designed it we sort of agreed that I get to have guest posting privileges :-) Since I don't craft enough to warrant my own blog ( and I will be headed overseas for 3 months in August), I get to occasionally share with you my creations.

I really am not sure what to think of this card that I made for the 2S4Y newest sketch. Sometimes when I look at it I rather like it. Other times, I wonder what I must have been thinking when I made it! I would love to hear what *you* think. For me I think the biggest thing I dislike about it is the "You are Picture Perfect". It was one of those moments when I stuck the stickers on the card and afterwards thought, "what on earth is that supposed to mean?!"

Its really a random card, I admit. But regardless of whether its my best, or most clever, I must admit that I had fun doing it. Its been a while since I found myself in the craft room with sticky fingers, and this time, it was quite relaxing. My scrapbooking stuff is in the basement and its nice and cool, a great way to beat this summer heat wave we're having!

This is the other card I made today. Again, not sure what I think about it! I love the paper I used on it, maybe thats why I don't like it as much as I should. It seems that when I use my favorite things, I somehow expect the result to be amazing, and if its anything less, am dissapointed. Its growing on me, I must admit . . . This card was made for the new UmWow sketch that Sarah designs for.
